FEBRUARY 2004 ![]() if you read computer magazines it probably means you like the internet a lot. sometimes i think it is not too interesting, but the next day i will type something into an auction site and sit at the computer for ten hours looking at all the stuff that is for sale! if you want to buy anything in the world that is legal you can get it on an internet auction. if it is car parts or novelty socks or drinking glasses you can find it MIB, NR, LQQK!!!!@ i do not look at auctions so much that i forget what trees look like but i think some parts of them are good ideas!! this morning i realized that it would be much easier to pick a car mechanic or grocery store if you could leave feedback for them! i had the opportunity to beta test this new technology when i went to the grocery store to get some coffee this morning. there were not many people in the store when i got there. usually i think that is a good idea but suddenly i realized that the people outside probably did not know it was there. i ran back outside and told people waiting for the bus, LQQK bus riders!! food inside, NR! (NR stands for "no reserve" which means if you are the top bidder for items you can get them, so possibly they could get green beans for a very low price if other people forget to bid!) they did not come into the grocery so i told them, BUY IT NOW!! PAYPAL ACCEPTED!! and then went inside. the displays in the vegetable section were set up pretty well but i do not think that the people there had embraced the technology because their signs were the same as always! i took a pen from the bank counter and wrote "LQQK" on the sign for lettuce. instantly it was an eye-catching masterpiece! it has all of the power of a capitalized command with the cuteness of making the middle letters look like eyes or maybe cats sitting down!! i got out of the way quickly in case people swarmed to the lettuce stand, i did not want to be trampled. (here in ohio there are banks inside every grocery, they pretend it is a convenience but they do not take paypal! there is nothing worse than standing in line for ten minutes and getting to the head of the line and having the teller tell you, NO DREW we accept cashiers checks, money orders, or well concealed cash only!! it is no convenience, it is another reason i would like to be able to leave feedback for stores.) i was on my way to the coffee aisle when i saw a grocery worker with an apron and cart full of vegetables walking around. APRON MAN, i told him, these displays are not very effective!! the food is stacked nicely but perhaps you should consider a bold listing, they are only one dollar extra! he just looked at me blankly so i told him, perhaps you should bid on the green beans, they are still a very low price! then i walked away. (i wanted to tell him in a low computer voice, I... AM... APRON MANNNN!!! but probably he would have given me bad feedback, it is not usually good to make fun of people until the transaction is complete.) so i got a can of coffee and checked out. the grocery is probably not going to make it in the new age of e-commerce and internet business because they have the same old signs as all the other groceries and they are resistant to change! the guy at the checkout lane was pretty nice though, so after i paid for the coffee, i told him, FAST BAGGING, FRIENDLY BANTER, WOULD BUY FROM AGAIN!! A+A+A+!! hopefully one day if he gets enough positive feedback he will become a manager and he will be in charge of making the signs and use my tips to take the grocery business into the new millennium. i will be mad if he does not, because if the grocery closes i will have to get my coffee off the internet and pay extra "handling" charges because i have no choice! PS if you liked this article please leave positive feedback, i will do the same for you!!! (back to the writing index page) |
